Day-long field trip for Art History Professor Paula Lupkin's "Design of Suburbia" course. The group which included graduates and undergraduates from Art History, Interior Design, IADS, New Media, and geography, visited sites in Dallas, Richardson, and Plano. The purpose of this trip centered around their investigation of the architecture, landscape architecture, branding, and diversity of suburban life and landscapes. Highlights included a guided tour of North Park Mall by Mark Lamster, architecture critic of the Dallas Morning News, an inside peek at the temple of the Buddhist Center of Dallas, and access to the Baccus Cemetery, located in the middle of the Shops at Legacy, designed by New Urbanist firm DPZ.
